Thank you for your help

Hi Andy,

With 2017 almost over, we wanted to look back at what we’ve achieved together this year. Thanks to you we were able to protect Attendance Allowance for disabled older people and you also helped us to raise awareness about loneliness in Parliament – read the manifesto we launched as part of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness.

Painful Journeys update

When we first launched our campaign on the difficulties older people face getting to hospital, the Government did not name a Minister responsible.

But thanks to the 3,000 people who wrote to their MP, the Government have now named Steve Brine MP as the Health Minister responsible for hospital transport.

This is a great step forward for the campaign, but we still need more people to write to their MP to urge Steve Brine to improve hospital transport for older people.

Care in Crisis update

Last month, we petitioned the Government to publish its proposals to solving the social care crisis by early next year.

Thank you to the 18,000 people who signed our petition which helped bring forward an announcement of Government plans to address the broken care system.

Our next steps are to find out what older people, their families and carers think.

We know people’s basic needs not being met, local services are being cut, paid carers do not have enough time and there is significant strain on unpaid carers – we really need your stories to highlight how these failures affect you. If you have experienced poor social care then we would like to hear from you – please reply to this email with your story.

Thank you so much for all your support. We will be in touch in the New Year to update you on how you can help in the next stages of our campaigns.

We hope you have a great festive period!
